If you were to tell me 10 years ago that I will still be working in the Printing Industry especially after having a Bachelor’s Degree in Business, I’d say, “there’s no way!” Here we are, 2020, and I’m going on 20yrs in the industry! For me, Dakota Press has not only revived printing, but it has also made me enjoy my job, and how many of us can say that?!? I personally want to thank the Reid’s for trusting and believing in me so that I have the confidence to not only move up in my career, but also enjoy in an industry that is neither ”dying or dead.”
At the height of the recession in 2010, for most of us “old” Dakota employees and a handful of “new” Dakota employees that the Reid’s brought with them, it was either jump ship or climb on board. Jumping ship would have been a mistake for us all given the economy, our gratitude to the Reid’s for taking the risks with us. It was definitely rough sailing, visibly more for the Reid’s than for us the employees, but the Reid’s, having the mentality of being once employees, they’ve done their best to try and keep us employed, minimize lay-offs and still keep our health insurance! All of which were/are blessings, given the economy at the time. In the span of 10yrs, a lot of sacrifices and mistakes were made; and as an employee, we are a frequent viewer of the “Mari & Gary Show”, and while Mari’s spirit, while not always up (understandably), her vision remained constant – she wanted the “family feel” with Dakota Press. With 12 employees strong, (Reid’s included), the Dakota Press Family have shared birthday lunches, holiday parties, showing off pictures of our babies (human and/or non-human) and super bowl pools. This “herd of buffalo” of Dakota Press for me, is more than Printing, it’s the ups and downs representation of every family journey. I hope that our customers (old and new) will further trust this herd to take us to longer and even better journey! Happy Anniversary Mighty Buffalos!
